This is a personal one to swallow the lost of an idol to me and a god to my brother. Steve is the reason my brother picked up the football to play quarterback. I recall the many games watching him in college produce fantasy like plays. Steve brought a national attention to the SWAC and division 1AA football that had not been seeing since the Jerry Rice Days at Mississippi Valley. He created a following that was unprecedented. Many pro Athletes, famous writers, politicians, etc would make there way to Lorman, Mississippi to see if he was real if he could do what most believe couldn't be done. Sports Illustrated placed him on the Cover and Coined Hand Him the Heisman. He would go on to Star in the NFL, almost single handily bringing the Titans Back to win the Superbowl and proved to be one of the all time great warriors in the game playing through brutal injuries.
Heroes get remembered but legends never die
